ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS

ANDRE MILSAP

Andre is a homeowner,  business owner, entrepreneur, and brings a passion for Jones Global Foundation Youth Programs. Mr. Milsaps, community work experience dealing with youth mentorship and youth sports brings an exceptional positive energy to our Jones Global Foundation team!

 

 Andre's former work experience includes serving as a Cumberland  County Parks and Recreation Coach and Andre has served as a Youth Mentor for WestOver Jr. High/High School {District #4, Boys Mentorship Program}. Andre worked as a former, Assistant Behavioral Specialist for CC School Systems.

 

Mr. Milsap, is an honorable Veteran, he enjoyed the privilege, opportunity and training he received in the US Army, serving as a Culinary Chef, providing daily meals for soldiers and for military families during the holidays. Andre enjoyed travel and living abroad while serving in the military.

 

Andre is a former winner of the prestigious “Employee of the Year Award” for {Cumberland County School}. Currently Andre holds the position of; Manager of the {Custodial/Maintenance Department} for CC School Systems.

Andre states; “I feel blessed to work in the educational system as a state employee, making a difference for youth daily”.

 

Andre is a man of faith, he attends  Simon Temple AME Zion Church and Manna

Church. He enjoys participating in Usher Ministry and Men’s Ministry.

 

During Andre’s free time he enjoys traveling, exercising ,sports, He enjoys the natural gift of being an Artist and enjoys artwork and art shows. Andre enjoys spending time with family and friends.

DORIS ANN SHIPMAN | CO-CHAIRPERSON

Ann possesses a wealth of wisdom and knowledge. She has an extensive background of experience in the following areas: Education, Civil Rights, Social Justice Resources, Parent/Family Education, and Non-Profit experience working with Minority and Culture Diverse community organizations. Ann is a life term Educational Advocate for equal quality  educational opportunities for children and adults.

 

Mrs. Shipman is a Retired school teacher. During her educational career, she enjoyed 30 plus years of teaching in the Cumberland County School System {Specialty, teaching special needs children}.

A graduate of Fayetteville State University, Ann earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education {Special needs concentration.}

Understanding the importance of academic advancement, Ann continued higher education at the University of Chapel Hill,North Carolina.

During her studies at UNC, Ann  received several speciality certifications in Elementary Education.

 

 Ann continues to stay involved with her community. She has served on numerous National and State  Committees, Boards and organizations. Ann brings a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to the Jones Global Foundation.

The education and civil rights personal and professional experience that she has acquired throughout the years makes Ann a great value and benefit to the JGF Advisory Board , to her community and to other organizations.

 

Ann works for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People {NAACP} 

Serving on the National Level as a North Carolina Regional Coordinator for the NAACP ‘Win Program-’’Women in NAACP  she is responsible in her role of leadership for the following states for the program; { NC, GA, SC, FL, TN, AL, and MS}. Ann  remains extremely involved with her community .

 

Ann is a member of: Sigma Gamma Rho  Sorority Incorporated, The Links Incorporated, National Association for the Education of Young Children {NAEYC}. Church Women United, and National Alliance for Mental Illness {NAMI}.

She is a  Lifetime member of the NAACP {serving on the Education Committee and the Health Wellness Committee}. Ann is a former advisory board member for NAMI {she continues to be an Advocate for Mental Health }. Ann also serves for the Advisory Board for Cumberland County’s Action Pathway organization.

 

A woman of great faith,Ann is a member of College Heights Presbyterian USA Church {CHP USA Church}.

 Ann serves as an Elder for CHP USA Church .Ann stays actively engaged at church.Her involvement includes: serving on the CHP USA Church Children Advisory Board,Women's Ministry and serving as a women's mentor for young ladies at CHP Church.

 

Elder Ann Shipment provides spiritual wisdom to team Jones Global Foundation .

Her positive energy and motivation to serve is contagious!

DR. LARRY O. WRIGHT, SR.

Larry O. Wright,Sr. has extensive work experience working with Multicultural and diverse community organizations.

Dr. Larry O. Wright has an enormous amount of community leadership, political leadership,  and faith based leadership. Jones Global Foundation, appreciates and values the wisdom and exceptional experience and passion for helping people that Dr. Wright provides for our team!

 

Larry O. Wright is a recipient of the prestigious  LongLeaf Pine Award {the highest award that a Civilian can receive from the State of NC, from Governor Cooper's office for service to the state of NC}. He is a life term advocate for helping decrease poverty and helping the poor.

 Dr. Wright is the Founder of Pathways for Prosperity, along with Founder NC. State Senator Kirk Deviere, the goal of the Pathways for Prosperity organization is to provide Education Awareness, Research and Resources to help decrease poverty and to help break false negative stigma against the homeless population and against individuals that are poor.   

 

 Larry O. Wright serves for the families in Cumberland County working in the position of City Councilman  {District #7}  elected to his third consecutive term in November 2017 as District 7 representative to the Fayetteville City Council. Fayetteville has been his home for over 37 years

.

Larry O.  Wright is a graduate of Miami Northwestern High School and Shaw University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Philosophy.

.He also attended  Chicago University, Liberty University and Seminary and received his Ph .D. In Theology from Tabernacle Bible Seminary.

 

Councilman Wright is a retired military veteran with over 20 years of active service.

He retired in 1997 and became the Senior Marketing Director for Telecommunications(Fort Bragg Region),where he received the National Award for Top Marketing for the Eastern United States.

Larry has been married to Deborah for 33 years.They have two sons,Larry,Jr (Kristal) And James Anthony (Latoya) and 7 grandchildren.

Wright has been active in the community.He is a proven leader.Here is a list of his professional and civic involvements:

VICTORIA SIEVWRIGHT | CO-CHAIRPERSON

Victoria Sievwright is originally from Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Victoria has extensive executive experience in the following areas: Human Resources, Tax Examining/Implementations, Healthcare Administrative along with Healthcare managerial  organization. She has strong management and organization skills. Victoria brings skills essential to the management of Jones Global Foundation initiatives.

 

Victoria works at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in Atlanta Georgia, currently she enjoys serving in her position as Medical Support Assistant, daily she provides services/resources for Veterans in Crisis and supports the VA Social Services Department.Victoria is a successful property investor, she owns real estate homes in both the state of North Carolina and Georgia.

She is married to Danny Sievwright { for 34 years} they have three dogs and enjoy homeownership in Buford Georgia.

 

Victoria and her husband are both honorable Veterans of the US Army {she retired after 16 years of service}. She enjoyed the experience of traveling abroad and living in Europe while in the military. Victoria is an advocate for Veterans and military families and a mentor for young military spouses and Veterans. Victoria and her husband are both members of the Disabled American Veterans national organization.  Victoria and her husband both are Veterans who Advocate and support “honorable discharged Soldiers” to receive all military benefits that they may qualify to receive for serving their country.

 

Victoria is a graduate {2011} of Fayetteville State University, where she obtained a Sociology, Bachelor of Science degree. Victoria continuous her higher education at Walden University pursuing her Masters in Social Work {attentive graduation 2021}

Victoria is a woman of Faith {Catholic} she states; “a healthy lifestyle is always led by actions of faith”. She enjoys women ministry, reading, traveling, exercise, community involvement, time with her three dogs, family and friends.

Prior to Victoria's current position as a Medical Support Assistant for the VA Medical Center, Victoria has successful held several leadership career positions,Victoria's former positions are  as follows:

  • Tax Examining Technician at the Internal Revenue Service

  • Assistant Equal Opportunity Officer, for  U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

  • Human Resources Assistant for National Center for Disease Control

  • Military Education Advisor at the Pope Air Force Base, Ft. Bragg NC.

  • Beneficiary Services Representative, at Humana Military Health Care Services

  • Human Resources Executive Director, at T.H.I.N.K. & Associates, Fayetteville NC.

  • Patient Services Assistant, for  the Veterans Medical Center

  • Personnel Administration Specialist , United States Army {Reited, honorably discharged}

ELIZABETH ATHERTON

Elizabeth has a background of professional experience in the following areas: psychiatric Nursing, Youth Mentorship, Administrative Office Management, Parent Consulting and Teaching {Child Development}.

 Elizabeth graduated from Saint Joseph Couric {Catholic  School}

Immediately after graduating high school, Elizabeth received and accepted a Exchange Student  full scholarship to Attend Belize International Private Academy in Europe {Germany} where she majored in Business Economics {concentration in Hotel Management}

During her residence in Europe, Elizabeth was provided with great educational and career opportunities.

She set goals for herself, Elizabeth was focused and determined to complete her professional and personal goals.  

 Elizabeth pursued  higher education, by attending the University of California {Europe Campus} and Francisi Canner Schernally School of Nursing in {Frankfurt Germany}.

 Elizabeth received her Nursing credentials, and started her  first career as a nurse in Frankfurt Germany. She worked at a military hospital holding the position of a psychiatric Nurse.

 Elizabeth got engaged and married while in Germany.

After several years in Europe, Elizabeth's family received military orders and moved to Fort Belvoir Maryland.

 Elizabeth worked as a Nurse at the Veterans of Affairs Hospital in Maryland.

 After residing in the United States for five years, Elizabeth and her family returned to Europe {Germany} with her husband for his second military assignment, during that time period. {now former husband}

Elizabeth decided, upon her second season living in Europe that it was time to follow her interest in Education. She was provided with the opportunity to start  a second career.

Elizabeth secured a position as a Special Needs Teacher working for Child Youth, and SchoolServices {Military Families In Home Child Development Program}. Elizabeth and her family enjoyed both military work assignments in Europe.

Elizabeth and her Family returned to the United States, to Fort Bragg, NC. {securing a family home in Fayetteville NC}.

 She immediately received a Teachers transfer from Germany CYSS organization into the Fort Bragg Child Youth Services System on Fort Bragg, NC.

Elizabeth attended Fayetteville Technical Community College, she obtained her required  Child Development Associate {CDA} credential  in Child Development

Elizabeth is a life term  Education Advocate { for fair and equal education for all children} and she enjoys mentoring to young girls. She is an active participant at events with community engagement and volunteer work for community organizations and Saint Patrick Catholic Church  in Fayetteville NC.

 Elizabeth  successfully retired after 24 years of teaching, as a Teacher from the Child Youth, and School Services, Fort Bragg NC..

Elizabeth has four successful children {they are all now adults,one son deceased} and six grandchildren. She is a woman of Faith {Catholic denomination}.

 Elizabeth enjoys traveling, spending quality time with family and close friends,movies,  reading, womens ministry, walking for exercise, community events.

 She enjoys {group conversations/forums ,pertaining to learning about different religions/ faiths, current news, diverse culture awareness, and  world news topics}.   

 

BRENDA PAYNE

Brenda is originally from and grew up in Harlem New York. Brenda has a background of professional experience in the following areas: Youth Mentorship, Administrative Office Management,Parenting Consulting and Teaching {Child Development}.

 

During her residency in New York, Brenda remained involved with community engagement. She and her husband both were actively involved with their children's school sports and school activities.She enjoyed being  involved with her children's School district PTA program.

 

Brenda set goals for herself. She was focused and determined to complete her personal and professional  goals.

Brenda initiated actions to reach her goals to become a business owner and teacher.

The opportunity arose for Brenda to become a teacher .She accepted her first teaching position in New York, this was the beginning of a fulfilling and successful career in education.  

 

Brenda is happily married to Christopher Payne {33 years of marriage} her husband is a retired Veteran { 20 years, U.S. Army}. Brenda and her family are supporters and Advocates for Veterans and Military families to receive all benefits they deserve for serving their country.

 

 Brenda  and Christopher enjoy home ownership in Fayetteville North Carolina. She and her husband have six children { now successful adults} along with several grandchildren and one great grandchild. As a Grandmother, she knows the importance of “the next generation”, and teaches moral values to her grandchildren.

 

Brenda is a  business owner of { Payne Family Child Development Services}, she is an entrepreneur and a life term Educational/Advocate for equal quality education opportunities for children and adults.

 

Brenda’s career in education continues in North Carolina.She is a former teacher of ChildCare Network School System. Brenda now serves as the owner and Director of Payne Family Child Development services. Brenda has 30 plus years experience of teaching and business experience.

 

Understanding  the importance of education, Brenda obtained her Child Development {CDA} credentials from Fayetteville Technical Community College, along with other mandatory yearly credentials, from the National Association for the Education of Young Children {NAEYC}. Brenda continues her goals for higher academic achievement.Currently she is a student {majoring in Psychology } at the prestigious  Regent University, Virginia Beach, VA,  {Online Campus}.

 

Brenda is a humble woman of faith. She is a member of Beautyspot Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoys womens ministry, providing youth mentorship, and supporting her church's different ministries, member events and activities.

Brenda believes in community involvement. Along with being an asset to the Jones Global Foundation team! She is a member of, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People {NAACP}  and a member of National Alliance on Mental Illness {NAMI}.

 

Brenda has a giving/kind spirit. She is a supporter/financial donor to the following organizations; {Saint Jude Children's Hospital, Children's Miracle Network Hospital, Second Harvest Food Bank,SouthEast NC}.

Brenda enjoys traveling, reading, community engagement,women culture events/news topic forums, and faith based sponsored events. Brenda enjoys spending time with family and friends.
